WHAT IS ASHITABA?

Ashitaba is a not frost tender perennial plant endemic to a volcanic island of Hachijō-jima in Japan. Its scientific name is Angelica keiskei which means “tomorrow’s leaf” and belongs to a genus Angelica.
Ashitaba plant grows from 50 to 120 centimeters. Its regenerative abilities are above average for example, following any injury to this plant, you can see a growth of new sprout just after a day. It contains a substantial level of vitamin B12. Ashitaba can be used as a medicine. It is also believed that it also has anti-aging capabilities. It contains Chalcones (flavonoids) which possess anti-oxidant properties.
Ashitaba is a treasure of many vitamins, carotene, proteins, chlorophyll, fiber, caumarins and glycosides. Chlorophyll also known as “the green blood of the plant” is good for stomach and the brain and it also possess anti-allergy capabilities. Our body contains a special type of glycoproteins known as interferon, which plays an important role to protect our body from the harmful viruses and bacteria. Germanium is a natural compound found in Ashitaba and it is associated with the increase production of interferon.
According to a research published in Nutraceutical World, the anti-oxidant properties of Ashitaba plant even outperform the antioxidant properties of green tea and many other herbs.
